Protecting jewelry and valuables

Theft sub-limits and how scheduling high-value items works.

Standard tenant policies often cap theft of jewelry, watches, and furs at a modest amount. Firearms, silverware, cash, and collectibles may have their own caps.

Scheduling an item lists it individually with its appraised value. Scheduled items often have broader coverage, including accidental loss, and may carry no deductible.

Insurers usually ask for an appraisal or recent receipt for scheduled items. Reappraise every few years because values change.

If you have expensive musical instruments, cameras, or bikes, mention them in the description field of your quote request.
